This policy explains what personal data Crash Taste collects, why, and what rights you have. We keep it plain and only describe what actually happens on this site.
Who we are
This website is operated independently as a personal content project. For any privacy request, data-subject enquiry (access, erasure, objection, etc.) or other data-protection matter, email privacy@crashtaste.com. This mailbox is monitored and we respond within one month.
The short version
- We do not sell your data.
- Our visitor statistics are cookieless and collect no personal data.
- We only set advertising cookies if you agree through the cookie banner.
- If you subscribe to the newsletter, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.
Newsletter
If you choose to subscribe, we collect your email address, and your name if you give it. We use these only to send you the newsletter you asked for.
Your details are held in our own self-hosted listmonk instance on our server. The emails themselves are delivered through Amazon Simple Email Service (SES), run by Amazon Web Services, which acts as our email-delivery processor.
- Lawful basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
- Double opt-in: we send a confirmation email and only add you once you confirm.
- Unsubscribing: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Retention: we keep your details until you unsubscribe, after which they are removed.
Analytics
We measure aggregate visitor numbers with GoatCounter, which we host ourselves. It is cookieless, collects no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking. It tells us things like how many people read a page, not who they are.
- Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Advertising
We show adverts through Google AdSense. To serve adverts, and to personalise them where you allow it, Google may set cookies on your device.
- Lawful basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), collected through the cookie-consent banner. In the UK and the EEA advertising cookies stay off until you accept them.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie settings.

Affiliate links
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. We do not collect any extra personal data through these links. Once you leave for the destination site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes standard server logs, including your IP address and browser user agent, transiently, to deliver the site and keep it secure. These logs are not used to build a profile of you.

listmonk and GoatCounter are self-hosted by us, so no third party is involved in running them.

Your rights
Under the GDPR (Articles 15 to 22) you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- rectify data that is wrong or incomplete;
- erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict how we process it;
- portability, receiving your data in a portable format;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@crashtaste.com. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we have handled your data wrongly, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données) in Brussels. This does not affect your right to contact us first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above.
